Raised in Harlem and represented the fourth generation to attend Wadleigh, J.H.S. Studied at F.I.T., where Textile Design with interests in Fine Art and Advertising was the focus of study. Pursued leadership training at Bankstreet College and subsequently trained in television production at the Institute of New Cinema Artists (INCA), under the leadership of Ossie Davis and Cliff Frazier.

A career in media began at WABC-TV on Today's Black Woman and WOR-TV in the Black: Keys to Success, hosted by advertising pioneer Caroline Jones. This work can be viewed at www.LifesRiches.com.

In the 80's, while raising a family, I worked for Diane Von Furstenberg's Textile Design Co. and for Bergdorf Goodman.

In the 80's I also created a company, Spinach Pie Inc. that introduced the first health-food spinach pie to the market, that idea would take off and spinach pies would proliferate widely.

From the late 80's to the 90's I worked as a coordinator of the Science and Technology Entry Program's Structured Education Support Program developing internships for students with-

  • Black Astronomers
  • Black Lawyers
  • Black Physicians, etc.

and I enjoyed the distinct pleasure of presenting Dr. Ivan Van Sertima and his lecture Blacks in
Science on several occasions.

In the 90's I created a video company (informally) that produced a video for the National Black United Fund, headquarters . The video was shown in Washington, D.C. at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual event.

A year after I produced that video, in 1995, I entered WBAI radio with the help of Joel Washington (Muhammad) and Sam E. Anderson. I served as reporter, engineer, producer and oft-times host of Talk Back, Elombe Brath's (Brathwaite) Afrikaleidoscope, WBAI News, and numerous other programs.

In 1999 I became the senior producer for WLIB's morning news magazine with Cheryl Sutton as my executive producer.

Since 2001 I have worked for WHCR-FM, Dr. Jeff Gardere, television personality and psychologist, Carib News Radio and other freelance positions including reporting for the Amsterdam News, which began in 2005. Prof. Herb Boyd, journalist with the Amsterdam News, is my mentor and has written 23+ books.

For nearly a decade I have co-hosted and produced Gardens of Tranquility and Contemplation over WHCR 90.3FM and streaming from Harlem to Cairo at www.whcr.org. I now produce and host for the esteemed Mas’ud Tariq Towe.
